JoAnn Sciarrino is Knight Chair, Digital Advertising and Marketing, at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the School of Media and Journalism. Sciarrino, an advertising and marketing executive with nearly 30 years of experience, works with the industry to research, test, deploy, and refine digital advertising and marketing strategies—and share results and ideas widely within the professional and academic communities.
Sciarrino is an advertising and marketing expert in brand science, digital media and brand attachment, and has published her research on brand attachment and digital in a variety of academic and practitioner publications. Sciarrino is a regular invited speaker to both international and national marketing, digital marketing and content marketing conferences. She teaches Digital Advertising and Marketing, Digital Marketing, and Market Intelligence to undergraduates and MBAs and was the recipient of the UNC 2016 Tanner Award for excellence in teaching.
Prior to joining the University of North Carolina in 2012, Sciarrino was executive vice president of BBDO North America, where she advised global clients for more than a decade in brand science from research, analytics, and modeling, most notably AT&T, Starbucks, FedEx, and Hyatt
