In 1983, a group of hardcore fishermen who spent their days exploring the globe and battling extreme elements came to realize that the sunglasses they were relying on weren’t as hardcore as they needed them to be.

Seeing the world in full color and with absolute clarity, while protecting their eyes was a must; yet, they couldn’t find worthy sunglasses anywhere. So they decided to build their own. Costa was born

A few dozen years, and several thousand fishing/surfing/sailing excursions later, Costa Del Mar’s mission has never wavered: to create the clearest sunglasses on the planet for life’s great adventures. And while they make their living patenting technology for frames and lens with a “quality at all cost” mentality, they spend their resources ensuring the watery world we live on remains a viable, and enjoyable place to spend our time.

As evidenced by significant endeavors, such as Kick Plastic, GEOBASS Adventures, Bluefin on the Line, OCEARCH Expeditions, Watery Rave, and Project Guyana, Costa Del Mar is a poster child for achieving cult status through a strong corporate ethos and remarkably perverse brand touchpoints, such as a Sundance Film Festival award winning movie, partnership with Kenny Chesney, and relationships with numerous conservation groups.
